It’s basically a ticking time-bomb now.

Now?

Nice job! Awesome to see WK2s head towards 200,000 miles and up (though I bet you’re ready for something new). It shouldn’t be a t icking time bomb , that’s more of a Wrangler feature.

If it hasn’t dropped a valve spring by now, it might be alright for a little while longer.

I mean, it’s been good so far, aside from a leaky thermostat housing. And apparently my steering rack is weeping as well? Otherwise, no issues in the 64k miles since I’ve owned it... I do owe it a set of new spark plugs, probably ought to replace the coils too (a la Long_Voyager)...

I’ve got the Pentastar, not a Hemi. Is that a thing I should watch out for? Is that the result of the lifter tick i keep hearing people talk about?

Yeah, mine lives a pretty sedate existence, just racking up miles on the highway. No real offroading to be done around here, and it’s only a 2WD anyway.
I love it tho. I wish i was ready to trade it in, but i can’t bring myself to part with it yet. This is how it always goes for me...

It is something the Hemi engines did. I haven’t heard much about problems with the Pentastar. I’m not as in tune with the mopar market as I once was though. I was eyeing up a 74 Charger on marketplace the other day though...

I understand completely! I’ve put nearly 120,000 of my own miles on this 2012, which is also 2WD . I was doing 45,000 miles annually for the first two years but now it mostly sits in the airport parking lot. I can’t let go of good cars that I know I can count on.
